• Motorcyclist killed in Highlands road crash

      A motorcyclist has died following an accident in Sutherland. Northern Constabulary said the crash, which involved a single motor bike, happened at about 1350 BST on Sunday on the A894, 1.5 miles south of Kylesku. Despite the efforts of the Scottish Ambulance Service, the biker died of his injuries.

      Police said the road was closed for five hours while accident investigators examined the scene. The man's identity has not been released.

        Elgin man named as victim of fatal motorbike crash on Highland road.

        A motorcyclist killed in a Highland road accident at the weekend was named yesterday as an Elgin man.

        David Da Silva, 34, died on Sunday after crashing in Sutherland, about one-and-a-half miles south of Kylesku.

        He was travelling on the A894, which runs between Inchnadamph and Kylestrome, when the accident happened about 3pm. It is understood he was on a trip with a group of other motorcyclists.

        Part of the road was closed for more than four hours while officers investigated the cause of the crash.
