Ullapool Tourism

Ullapool is an established fishing village, an industry in decline, Thousands of visitors come to Ullapool to appreciate it’s beautiful location and friendly charm year after year, especially in the summer months making tourism a factor in the growth of Ullapool.

Ullapool tourism has become an important employment sector in changing times.
Ullapool’s weather can sometimes be said to be Four Seasons in one day, it can be very changeable and never rely on the weather reports!  This can make your stay in Ullapool one to remember.   Over the last few years we have had exceptional weather April to June.  The climate is very changeable and be sure to bring waterproof clothing just in case!

Ullapool has a lot to offer tourists of all ages, many like to escape from the city and enjoy the quietness of village life and the relaxed way of living.  For the more active visitors there are lots of hill / forest walks, a 9 hole golf course, leisure centre with swimming pool, several play parks, just to name a few activities available in Ullapool itself.  If you are prepared to drive to neighbouring villages other activities are available.  Ullapool has a lot of small shops and comfortable cafes/bars offering a good selection of food and drink.  The local paper, The Ullapool News (link), can give you an up to date list of events and goings on in the area.  Ullapool has its own music festival every year in September (loopallu link),  a beer festival in October(link), a book festival (link)and a guitar festival (link) as well as hosting many feis rois music courses for adults and children during some summer holidays.  Again these are only a few of the events hosted in Ullapool, full details are normally updated on ullapool.com.

During the summer months there are regular bands and local music in local bars, music normally suitable for all tastes, again check with the local paper to get an up to date goings on list.
