Planning a visit to Ullapool? Not sure where to stay in Ullapool? Not sure what to do in Ullapool? Not sure about places to visit in Ullapool? The Visit Ullapool website was created to help visitors answer these questions.

Visit Ullapool the picturesque fishing village, once an important herring port, is the largest settlement in Wester Ross. Ullapool is also a great starting point for hill walking and mountaineering, providing access to Benn Dearg (1084m) and the Fannichs and has much more to offer.

Ullapool boat trips to the Summer Isles operate during the summer where visitors can see colonies of seabirds and seals. Touring by car or motorcycle offers spectacular highland scenery, particularly from Ullapool to Kyle of Lochalsh, where the circuitous coastal road provides fine views of beaches and bays backed by mountains all the way. Just 12 miles out of the village along the coast are the Falls of Measach, which spill 45m into the spectacularly deep and narrow Corrieshalloch Gorge. Visitors can take the suspension bridge across the gorge which was carved by glaciers 13,000 years ago.

Further north is the spectacular Inverpolly National Nature Reserve which is home to some of the last remains of the native Caledonian forest, and hosts an abundance of wildlife including golden eagles, deer and wildcats. Also nearby is Achiltibuie, a coastal village set in the Coigach Peninsula and where gardeners used to flock to see the futuristic gardens of the Hydroponicum (NOW CLOSED) – where all sorts of exotic plants, fruit and flowers flourish under glass without soil. This entire northwest coast is one of the most beautiful regions of Scotland.
